There isn't a "menopause test" that can detect when one is entering the perimenopause. This is mainly determined by one's symptoms, and by ruling out possible other causes for those symptoms. Once you are well into the change or menopause has completed, your blood sex hormone levels may start to change. FSH goes up and estradiol goes down. There is no good way to predict how long it will be until menopausal symptoms subside - but asking your mom or older sisters what their experiences were like may give you some idea of what to expect yourself.
