My Partner Says My Menopause Makes Me Moody. What Should I Do?

Dec 30, 2020

Your partner may be able to perceive your mood swings better than you can at this stage. Keep an open mind that it's possible you are, in fact, more emotional. It's a natural consequence of menopause. Your hormones are fluctuating and while this is not an excuse, it is a reasonable explanation. Ask your partner to let you know when he/she thinks you're behaving more emotionally. Talk about what's going on inside of you. In as calm a way as possible, describe what you are feeling, so that perhaps your partner can take some action to ease your sensitivity. Taking responsibility for your moods goes a long way in helping others be more sympathetic and proactive. And, remember, this is temporary. Let your partner know that, too.
